After an absence of over three decades, Air China will return to Toronto, Canada with a direct flight from Beijing.

From May 20, Air China will operate a twice-weekly service (Tuesday and Saturday) between Beijing Capital Airport and Toronto Pearson Airport. The Beijing, China-based Star Alliance airline will use its three-class Boeing 777-300ER aircraft on the route.

According to aeroroutes, Air China previously operated flights to Toronto – via Shanghai and Vancouver – using Boeing 747SP/747-200COMBI aircraft in the early 1990s.

Air China will be the second airline to operate flights between Beijing and Toronto, and the fourth airline from Toronto to any point in Mainland China. Hainan Airlines currently operates one weekly flight from Beijing Capital. China Southern operates flights from both Guangzhou and Shanghai Pudong, while China Eastern operates flights also from Shanghai Pudong.

The new Beijing-Toronto service will add to Air China's services between Beijing and Vancouver.

With the addition of Toronto, Air China will offer regularly scheduled passenger flights to six cities in North America. Air China operates flights to New York-JFK, Washington DC-Dulles, San Francisco, and Los Angeles in the United States along with Vancouver, Canada. In addition, the airline operates flights to Havana, Cuba via Madrid-Barajas.
